Earlier this week, Ford registered the name "Mach 4," sparking a wave of comments on social media. Needless to say, numerous rumors and speculations have begun circulating online.

Several theories have emerged regarding this news, with the most popular being the potential arrival of a four-door version of the legendary American sports car. Talks of a Mustang sedan have been ongoing for years, and perhaps Ford has finally decided it's time to move forward with the idea.

Ford has already realized it can capitalize on the Mustang name, as seen with the introduction of the all-electric Mach-E SUV. Some purists argue that it’s not a "real" Mustang, but the fact remains that the Mach-E’s sales have surpassed those of the traditional sports car—something Ford cannot ignore.

However, Ford has yet to make any official announcements, leaving room for further speculation.

An All-Wheel-Drive Mustang?

The "Mach 4" name could also hint at an all-wheel-drive version of the iconic American muscle car. The Dodge Challenger and Charger have had some success with AWD versions, and Ford may be looking to follow suit. The Mustang suffered a difficult sales year in 2024, partly due to the rising cost of new vehicles, which has forced buyers to choose a single, more versatile car instead of owning two. Adding all-wheel drive to the Mustang lineup could make it a more appealing option for enthusiasts who need a year-round vehicle.

Some rumors take things even further, speculating about an off-road version of the Mustang as we know it. While unconventional, this concept is gaining traction, as seen with the Porsche 911 Dakar and the Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato.

In short, there is plenty of speculation surrounding the "Mach 4" name, and anticipation is building for Ford to finally reveal more details.
