2023 FORD RANGER

2023 Ford Ranger, even more

The Ford Ranger is the mid-size truck that made a remarkable comeback in the Ford catalogue two years ago. So it's still early to renew a truck that has proven its capabilities and skills. However, 2023 will bring one major novelty: the presence of a Tremor version in the family.

There are also new colours, including Cactus Grey and Velocity Blue, as well as the addition of a limited edition STX option package. But that's where the changes end for this already modern pickup.

Recognized engine

Under the hood of this midsize pickup is still the 2.3-litre turbocharged Ecoboost engine that made the vehicle famous. It develops 270 horsepower but adds an impressive 310 pound-feet of torque. Mated to a Ford 10-speed automatic transmission, the engine offers both fuel economy and power.

It averages 10.9 L/100 km in combined mode while boasting a towing capacity of 3,400 kg (7,500 lbs). This puts it among the leaders in its class.

All versions of the Ranger have this same engine. And there are quite a few of them, since the truck can be offered with a SuperCab or SuperCrew, and have a choice of 2 or 4 wheel drive.

Three trim levels, XL, XLT and Lariat, are available in the catalogue, while styling packages modify the vehicle's appearance a bit, including optional 18-inch wheels.

A Tremor version

The real news for 2023, however, is the presence of a Tremor model. Inspired by the FX4 off- road version, but even more, muscular, the Tremor off-road package is designed for rough roads.

The entire suspension system has been redesigned. It includes a raised suspension with Fox 2.0 monotube shocks. Front coil springs and rear leaf springs complete the package. The Tremor is also equipped with Magnetic-painted alloy wheels to go along with the Grabber off-road tires, as well as many racier aesthetic elements.

Even the Tremor's interior has been redesigned with exclusive stitched seats but retains the comfort and accessories of the Ranger. To facilitate its off-road control, ground clearance has been increased, approach angles have been improved, and suspension travel has been increased. Still, it retains its towing capacity and maximum load capacity of 1430 pounds.

Safe and modern

The Ford Ranger, like many Ford models, has many driver assistance systems to ensure the safety of its occupants. For example, it comes standard with pre-collision assistance with automatic emergency braking. Other systems, such as lane tracking and blind spot information, are available on the top-of-the-line versions. The Lariat version even has adaptive cruise control.

As for the optional Sync3 multimedia system, it can fit into a large screen in the center of the dashboard. Apple Car Play and Android Auto compatibility are standard.

A real pickup truck

The 2023 Ford Ranger is evolving. It offers even more versions, even more capabilities, but doesn't compromise on comfort and technology. It's more than ever the perfect work companion, and the road companion you can count on!
