Many Powertrain Options for the 2022 Ford Escape

It all starts under the hood. Again, the 2022 Ford Escape still offers many powertrain options, more than the majority of its rivals. The 2022 Ford Escape is powered out of the gate by a 1.5-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that develops 180 horsepower. For a base engine, it's not bad at all. It’s even much better than what you’ll find in most Ford Escape rivals.

The other engine option is a 2.0-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that delivers 250 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque! As was the case with the old Ford Escape, this engine is among the most efficient in its class. It can also tow up to 3,500 lbs.

The PHEV Escape’s Hybrid Motor

A hybrid motor and even a plug-in hybrid motor are also offered. The PHEV Escape can travel 48 kilometres in 100% electric mode and requires only 3.5 hours to recharge. Other changes to the Ford Escape include the addition of better cargo capacity, which now reaches 1,062 litres. It’s much more than the old Escape and makes Ford’s new compact SUV one of the most spacious compact SUVs in its class.

It is also one of the safest with a set of high-level safety technologies including the Ford CoPilot 360 system which offers several driver assistance systems. The new Escape also features new technologies such as a collision-avoidance system, a parking assistance system and a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument panel.
