Did you know that in Canada over 4 million meals a year are provided by Food Banks? That from 2008 through 2016 there was a 28% increase in the use of Food Banks, and that 36% of those helped by Food Banks in Canada are children. Canada has more than 800 Food Banks and 3 thousand food programs.
Can you imagine trying to get through your everyday life hungry, and not sure where your next meal is coming from? The reality is that in Canada, there are many who live exactly that way. The reality is that in the tri-counties, right here in our own back yard, there are plenty who live that way.
The WE Scare Hunger Program
For the last four years Ford of Canada has teamed up with the WE Movement and WE Schools to bring you “WE Scare Hunger”. Through the month of October – the month of both Thanksgiving and Halloween — we gather donations to give to the Food Bank in Yarmouth.
Tusket Ford Scares Hunger!
This year we’re doing We Scare Hunger in two locations. Here at the dealership is a drop off point all month long. Simply come in with your non-perishable food items and drop them in the bin. As an added bonus, when you drop your items in the bin you’ll also get entered in our draw for a Green-Egg Barbecue worth over $1200!
Last year our administration department and service department had a challenge as to which could bring in the most food by weight. Administration took the challenge by a hair, and I’m sure that the game will be afoot again this year.
Tusket Ford/Yarmouth Mariners Food Drive
The second location is the Yarmouth Mariners/Amherst Ramblers hockey game on October 20th. Tusket Ford is the Diamond Sponsor of the Mariners, and we are very proud to be teaming up with them for this effort. We’d love to see you there too!
Last year Ford Dealerships donated over 275,000 pounds of food across Canada. The goal this year is to hit 350,000 pounds. Can we do it? With your help we sure can! Because — WE Scare Hunger!
The time is nearly here! Our second Tusket Ford All Truck Show & Shine is happening Saturday September 16th from 10 am – 3 pm. Last year was our first kick at the can, and it’s success went beyond our wildest expectations, with over 40 entries coming in. Everyone who attended had a fantastic time! We’ve taken what we learned from last year’s show in order to make it an even better day.
Registering For the Show is Easy
There really is nothing to it! All years, makes and models are welcome. Last year we had everything from antiques to classics, newer modified trucks and Big Rigs. We even had antique Fire Trucks come in. Pre-registration is easy. All you have to do it email me: firstname.lastname@example.org. On the email let me know the make, model and year of the truck you’re bringing in. That’s it, you’re done! All who pre-register will get a t-shirt, so let me know what size shirt you need as well.
Of course if you wish to just come in the day of the show you are welcome to do so. There are trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd “People’s Choice”. The attendees will all be given a ballot to vote for their favorite.
Fun For the Whole Family
We at Tusket Ford are proud to be a part of this wonderful place we call home, and to contribute in many different ways. From sponsoring sports teams to our involvement in the Hospital Foundation, to actively raising money for various worthy causes, we put our money – and our time – where our mouth is.
One very effective program that we love to take advantage of is Ford’s “Drive 4UR” program. It all started as the “Drive 4UR School” program in 2007 to help underfunded school programs. It went so well that Ford decided to expand and create the “Drive 4UR Community” to help other deserving causes.
Making Fund Raising Easy and Fun!
It’s a simple idea that can go a long way. Here’s how it works: During an event for a school or for a charitable group, Tusket Ford will bring in vehicles to test drive. The people coming to do the test driving have to fill out a quick form, but for these people there is absolutely no charge. They then go on a short drive in whatever vehicle they choose over a short looped course, usually lasting no more than 5 minutes. That’s it.
For every valid test drive taken at a registered event, Ford will donate $20 to the participating school or community organization; up to $6,000 per event. The goal is to raise the maximum donation of $6,000 at every Drive 4 UR School or Drive 4 UR Community event.
Schools or community organizations can raise money for virtually anything, ranging from athletic equipment for school teams to canned foods to fill a food pantry. All that is required is that it be a public school, or an organization with a registered charitable number.
Since the program started over 35 million dollars has been raised! At Tusket Ford we have done at least one a year since 2010, and have raised close to $19,000 in that span for various schools and causes.
Join Us For Our Next Events!
We have one such event coming up this Saturday. Drive 4UR Community for the Yarmouth Figure Skating Club is happening at Yarmouth Home Hardware Saturday August 26th from 10 am – 2 pm. If you’d like to pre-register for the event, just click the Drive 4UR Community symbol.
After that, we have a Drive 4UR School Event on Saturday September 9th at Ecole Pubnico-Ouest, 10 am – 2 pm. During the school’s Fall Fair, come for a test drive! Money raised will help buy a set of Chrome Books and a charging cart for the school. Click the Drive 4UR School symbol to pre-register.
Here’s the thing: we COULD do up to 6 of these a year, with enough notice supplied. You must qualify of course, and experience has taught us that events such as these work best when they are paired up with other activities; things like fun days for schools or fire departments, or bake sale/car wash events.
If your school or organization thinks that they could benefit from the Drive 4UR program, why not talk to me about it sometime? Zip me off an email: email@example.com.
For the last couple of years, we at Tusket Ford have associated ourselves with a great organization, the Yarmouth and Acadian Shores Tourism Association. We very much believe in the work that Yarmouth and Acadian Shores does for this region – spreading the good word about everything that our beautiful area has to offer; from experiences and adventures to be had, food and drink to be sampled and amazing scenery to be taken in. We truly live in one of the most glorious places in the world.
This is an area rich in Culture and History. From taking in Acadian culture at Le Village Historique Acadien in Lower West Pubnico, to Walking Tours through Yarmouth’s Heritage District and guided tours through Mountain Cemetary, the Living Wharves Demonstrations and the many museums in the area there is much you can immerse yourself in.
If It’s outdoor experiences you’re into, there are Kayak adventures, Stand-Up Paddle boarding, Kite Surfing, countless nature trails and miles of lakes and beaches. Star gazers should know that Yarmouth & Acadian Shores is home to North America’s first “Starlight Destination” designated by The International Starlight Foundation. We are only one of four places in the world to have this designation. Not far from Tusket Ford in Quinan we have the Deep Sky Eye Observatory, the perfect place to spend a starry starry night.
The Summer Escape
From early June through Mid-September you can find the Tusket Ford Yarmouth & Acadian Shores Summer Escape touring this region – meeting people, taking in the sights, sounds and tastes, and chronicling it all on Social Media for the World to see. The Summer Escape also has been known to appear in other areas of the Province and even in New England, spreading the good word of our area. Tusket Ford is very proud of our partnership with Yarmouth & Acadian Shores, and look to continue it into the future.
Look for the Summer Escape all through the Summer. When you see her drop over and say hello to those inside, and grab some Tusket Ford swag, sunglasses and frisbees. And as you enjoy your own adventures take lots of pictures, and on Instagram and Twitter post those pictures #FordSummerEscape. For every picture hashtagged that way, you’ll be entered in a draw for some great prizes: A Stand-Up Paddleboard package, a trip on the Cat next season, and a $100 Gift Certificate from Tusket Ford. We’ll be making those draws on September 16th during our All Truck Show & Shine.
Enjoy the summer, and everything that this area has to offer!

It’s Employee Pricing time at Tusket Ford! Employee Pricing has become a bit of a Summer/Autumn tradition with Ford, and for good reason. The deals are plentiful! The concept is simple: YOU pay what WE pay on new 2017 vehicles, and some 2018’s. I thought I’d give you a rundown on how the program works.
You Pay What We Pay
Employee pricing at Tusket Ford is called A-Plan pricing and you can see on your invoice exactly how much you can save. It’s the biggest sale of the year and runs from July 1st through October 2nd, 2017.
Vehicles that qualify for the program are 2017 F-150, F-250-450, Taurus, Transit Wagons and vans, Explorer, Fiesta, Focus, Fusion, Expedition, Edge, Escape, C-Max, Flex, Transit Connect and Mustang. Also qualifying are the 2018 F-150, Fusion, Flex and Transit Connect.
Employee Pricing is available on purchases, lease agreements and factory orders.
The Magic of Employee Pricing
Check out this beautiful 2017 F-150 which we had modified especially for the Seafest Classic Car Show. We’ve installed a lift kit and given it some high end wheels and rims and custom striping. All in all, it has $9000 worth of accessories added to it. At the show we had hundreds of people looking this truck over, and I enjoyed asking people how much they thought it was worth. Plenty of those guesses were in the 75 to 80 thousand dollar range.
Here’s the Magic of Employee Pricing: the MSRP (Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price) of this truck is $58,779. When you total the Employee Pricing discount and Delivery Allowance, you save $11,338 off the price of the vehicle. Add on $9000 in accessories and customization, and you get a selling price of $56,441, or $2338 LESS than the MSRP of the truck unmodified!
Now you may not be interested in buying a modified F-150, but whatever vehicle you may be looking for — be it a truck, car or SUV — you can get at a highly discounted price. You can benefit by just enjoying the savings off of your monthly bill, but also you could use that opportunity to get the options you’ve always wanted at the same price that you would normally pay for the vehicle without them. It’s a win-win!
Come over and talk to our vehicle and financing experts here at Tusket Ford. We look forward to seeing you!
Tusket Ford is very proud to be a part of the fine community here in Southwest Nova Scotia, and always excited to be a part of the goings on around here! This weekend is one of those weekends you get in the tri-counties in the summertime; a weekend filled with activities. In the words of the Beatles, you’ll find us here, there and everywhere.
Let’s start with Seafest Events! We’ve just returned from helping the local YMCA transport Spin Cycles to and from the Yarmouth waterfront for a special outdoor class for Seafest. There was a dozen enthusiastic spinners there over looking the water. It was a great time!
Seafest means it’s time for the Roaring 20’s Classic Car Show, which can bring in hundreds of Classic Cars to the area. Tonight at 7 is the Classic Car Parade. There will be thousands of people lining the parade route checking out the action. Once the parade is finished, Tusket Ford and Carl’s Store have teamed up to bring you a Street Dance on Main Street, featuring Hourglass.
It’s going to make for a very fun evening. Then tomorrow, rain or shine, Main Street Yarmouth will be closed down for the actual Classic Car Show, again with hundreds of antique and classic cars lining the streets. Tusket Ford will be there too, bringing a very cool modified 2017 F-150.
We will also be bringing along the Yarmouth and Acadian Shores Tusket Ford Summer Escape. I know, that’s quite a mouthful. For the last couple of years Tusket Ford has been working with the Yarmouth and Acadian Shores Tourist Association, supplying them with a vehicle for the summer season that they use to spread the word about our area. They travel through the region, and occasionally through New England too, representing us at events and telling everyone about the good times to be had if you visit Southwest Nova Scotia. Come over and say hello, and get some Tusket Ford Swag — as it may shower, you can get a Tusket Ford rain poncho. When the sun breaks through, we’ll have some Tusket Ford Sunglasses for you.
Another regular happening during Seafest is the Victor Rodney Memorial Golf Tournament at Yarmouth Links. This Saturday and Sunday almost 200 teams will hit the course for a great weekend of fun. We wish everyone good luck; may you all have fun! Again, Tusket Ford is front and center: nail a hole-in-one on the first hole and you could win a brand new 2017 Focus!
In Amirault’s Hill on Saturday it’s La Festival de la Barge. Resident’s there build a huge haystack starting at 10 am, there’s a mass at the Church and a Turkey Supper at the Social Club following mass. It’s a tradition that’s been going on for ages there, and again Tusket Ford is proud to contribute to the fun.
Whatever you may have planned this weekend, may you have fun and be safe! Maybe we’ll see YOU at one of the area’s many events. Enjoy!
One of our slogans here at Tusket Ford is “Service is not just a department, it’s who we are”, and it is certainly true. I believe that partially comes from the fact that Tusket Ford is at its heart, a small town family run business. When you treat people like family, service becomes second nature.
We feature Drive Through Service Bays. That means when you are coming in for service, you simply pull up to one of the 2 Service Bays and honk your horn. The bay door opens and you drive in. Our friendly Service Advisors are there to handle whatever your needs may be. If you made an appointment, we take over from there.
If you’re having some kind of vehicle trouble and need help, even if you don’t have an appointment, the procedure is exactly the same – simply pull up to a bay, honk your horn and come in. Our Service Advisor will take it from there.
Relax in Our Lounge, Or Let Us Handle It All
While you wait you can relax in our newly refurbished Service Lounge; have coffee or water, read a magazine or watch some TV. When your vehicle is ready we’ll come out to get you.
Maybe you don’t have time for that. We all lead busy lives after all. Tusket Ford also offers pick up in the local area. We’ll come get your vehicle for you, take care of it, and bring it back to you. Easy peasy.
There’s more to our shop than just service work. We also have a Heavy Duty Truck shop, the finest in the area.
Anytime you need to talk to us to book appointments or for advice, call us at (902) 648-2600, or toll free at 1-844-284-7625. You can also email us through our web site www.TusketFord.ca. Parts and Service at Tusket Ford opens Monday through Saturday at 8 am, and stays open until 5 Monday through Friday, noon on Saturdays.
During off hours if you find yourself in need of help – and of course anytime you’re broken down or stuck and need roadside assistance – remember that we also have a towing service, Hubert’s Towing. You can reach the tow truck directly by calling (902) 648-7740, or (902)400-0907.
Don’t hesitate to have us baby your vehicle! We look forward to serving you!
Welcome to our new website, and our new Tusket Ford Blog, The Weekly TFT, or Tusket Ford Talk! It’s here where you will find a bunch of fun things about our dealership – news, contests, events that we’re planning, and a lot more! I’m Wade Cleveland the Marketing Manager here, and I have been part of the Tusket Ford family for about a year and a half now. Trust me, it really is a family! We have a great working group, and I believe that translates into all aspects of the business, which is why our slogan is “We treat you like family because you are!”
Keep watching here on our www.TusketFord.ca website for weekly updates on what’s happening in and around the dealership, as well as Community Events that we may be involved in. We plan on a very busy summer!
Between our involvement in the Southwest Stock Car Races, the Seafest Antique Car Show, Mariner’s Ribfest and the Yarmouth Mariners Junior A Hockey team, there’s a LOT going on.
Not to mention the various shenanigans we always seem to get ourselves into. It will all be chronicled here!
And of course you can keep tabs on us on our Facebook Page, Twitter and on Instagram. We’re everywhere!
See you soon!
